XC Runs at Blue Jay Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the USJ Blue Jay Invitational on Saturday morning.

The Mariners scored 59 points and  finished second out of three teams in the women's 5K race, losing to host Saint Joseph (16) but beating Bay Path University (61). Grace Burns turned in the top time for Mitchell, crossing the finish line in 24:58 to finish fifth overall. Aizhane Glenn also placed ninth with a time of 29:43.

On the men's side it was a head-to-head match-up between the Mariners and Blue Jays, with the latter coming out on top. Evan Carney was the only Mitchell runner in the top seven, finishing third overall with a time of 17:20. Ariel Caplan (23:12), Tom Martens (24:56) and Josh Herrmann (26:22) were the next Mariners to cross the finish.

Mitchell will next compete at the CCRI Invitational on Saturday, October 5 at 10 a.m.
