XC Runs at CCRI Tri-State Invitational

LINCOLN, R.I. -- The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams raced at the CCRI Tri-State Invitational on Saturday morning.

The men's team placed eighth out of nine teams while the women's squad placed seventh out of seven. Trinity College (CT) took home both the men's and women's team titles.

The rookie duo of Evan Carney and John Mateo paced Mitchell in the men's 8k race. Carney finished 32nd overall in a time of 29:53.7 while Mateo crossed the line in 39th place with a time of 30:27.9. Tom Martens (41:46.2), Josh Herrmann (42:07.6) and Ariel Caplan (42:43.9) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners.

On the women's side, Grace Burns turned in the top time for the Mariners for the fourth straight race, finishing the 5k course in 27:06.3. Aizhane Glenn was the second Mitchell runner across the finish line in 29:30.3, and Tina Caruso (34:14.7), Emily Phillips (39:51.2) and Genevieve Ruble (44:29.7) completed the scoring

Mitchell will next compete at the Westfield State Invitational on Saturday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m.
