Carney runs at NCAA Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Mitchell College freshman Evan Carney competed at the NCAA Division III New England Region Cross Country Championship on Saturday at Bowdoin College. 

Carney completed the 8k course in a time of 30:31.20 and finished 317th out of 384 finishers. He was the first Mitchell runner to compete in the event since 2012.

The race capped an impressive season for the rookie runner. Carney led the Mariners in six out of seven races and earned all-conference first team honors. He was also tabbed New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year, becoming just the second male runner in school history to earn the distinction.
