Carney, Jacobs Tabbed NECC Runners of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Junior Evan Carney and sophomore Lara Jacobs were named NECC Runner of the Week for their respective sports. Both earned the honor for second time in their careers.
Mitchell opened the 2021 season with 5k races at the Smith Invitational over the weekend. Carney paced the Mariners with a time of 20:23 and finished 37th overall in the men's field of 72. Jacobs placed 20th out of 68 runners in the women's event and recorded a time of 22:13.
Mitchell will next compete at the University of Saint Joseph on Friday, September 17 at 4 p.m.
