XC's Carney, Jacobs Add More Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. – A pair of Mitchell College cross country runners were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Junior Evan Carney and sophomore Lara Jacobs were each named NECC Runner of the Week for their respective sport. The duo paced Mitchell in a head-to-head meet against Connecticut College last week.
Carney earned the distinction for the third time this season and fourth time in his career. He was the first Mitchell runner across the finish against Conn, covering the 6k course in 22:54 to place 14th overall.
Jacobs earned the honor for the fourth time this season and fifth time in her career. She was Mitchell's top finisher against Conn and placed fifth overall, clocking in at 24:37 in her first 6k race of the season.
Mitchell will next compete at the NECC Championship on Saturday, October 23.
