Cross Country Participates in Connecticut College Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams raced in the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday morning at Harkness Memorial State Park. The men's team placed 18th during the white 8K race, while the women competed in the white 6K race.

Freshman Jonathon Hecker (Falls Church, VA) was the top male finisher for the Mariners, crossing the finish line in 31:02.8. Senior Weston Schumacher (Sherborn, Mass.) was the next Mitchell runner to complete the event with a time of 34:11.30, while Raphael Vogt (Montville, Conn.), Xavier Haney (Montville, Conn.), and Tim O'Hayre (Hull, Mass.) rounded out the pack with times of 37:08.50, 37:08.70, and 40:24.20 respectively.

Ryan Proulx of Tufts University was the first individual to finish in 25:33.50, helping the Jumbos to the top team spot.

During the women's race, four Mariners managed to cross the finish line, paced by senior Katelyn Lipsky (Plantsville, Conn.), who recorded a time of 35:43.90. Right behind her was sophomore Lola Worsdale (Stonington, Conn.) at 37:20.00, senior Hailey Hill (Griswold, Conn.) at37:46.40, and sophomore Olivia DeCicco (Haverhill, Mass.), who crossed the finish line in 41:41.30.

Katherine Cheng of NYU was the top finisher with a time of 22:35.50, while Tufts University placed first as a team.

The Mitchell men's and women's cross country teams will now turn their attention to the GNAC Championship on October 28th.
