Cross Country Races in GNAC Championship

STANDISH, ME – Members of the Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the GNAC Championship meet on Saturday, which was hosted by Saint Joseph's College (ME).

Freshman Jonathan Hecker (Falls Church, VA) paced the Mariners in the men's 8k race, finishing 47th overall with a time of 35:26.7, good for a pace of 07:07.8. Sophomore Tim O'Hayre was the only other participant from the Mariners in the men's race, crossing the finish line in 61st place with a time of 38:02.4, a 07:39.1 pace.

The host Monks took the top team spot with a score of 44, while Norwich University (55) and Colby-Sawyer College (64) rounded out the top three. Jacob Pelletier of Saint Joseph's College (ME) was raced to the top overall spot individually (27:54.7), edging out Braeden Laframboise of the University of Saint Joseph by just over 10 seconds.

Only one Mitchell participant competed in the women's 6k event, and that was Anna Kate Kochansky. The junior crossed the finish line 74th overall with a time of 56:50.7, a 15:14.7 pace.

Colby-Sawyer College took the team title in the women's race with a score of 35, besting Regis College (81) and Norwich University (110), who were second and third respectively. Adriana Nadeau of Colby-Sawyer finished first overall with a time of 25:23.1, nearly 40 seconds ahead of second place finisher Kiara Cerruti of Lasell University, who posted a time of 25:59.7.
