Sailing in Fifth Place at Clark Open

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Mitchell College sailing team sits in fifth place out of 10 teams following the first day at the Clark Open on Saturday, an event hosted by the Coast Guard Academy.

Tufts University leads the field after seven races. The Mariners also trail Coast Guard, Maine Maritime and New Hampshire but are ahead of squads from Roger Williams, Williams and Northeastern. Alex Hering skippered with Eli Smith, Mike D'Amico, and Brendan Griffiths as crew in Colgate 26s for the Mariners.

The teams will wrap up the event on Sunday with three races.
