Sailing Competes at Midweek Women's Invite
NEW LONDON, Conn. -- For the first time in its history, Mitchell College fielded an all-women's team at the Midweek Women's Invite hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday afternoon on the Thames River.
The Mariners were one of nine schools that competed in the event in which Flying Juniors were sailed. As a developing program, Mitchell has four women on its co-ed team, and all four took part in the regatta.
Representing the Mariners in A-Division were juniors Chelsea Abbenante and Alexandra Bollella, who finished ninth overall. The duo of sophomore Joslin Taber and sophomore Deborah Lee finished eighth in B-Division.
Brown University placed first overall in the team competition. The Mariners finished ninth overall.
