Sailing Gets Back to Work at Southern Series #7

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Mitchell College sailing team competed at the Southern Series #7 on Saturday, traveling to Roger Williams University to compete against six other schools from New England.

In a combined fleet of 18 boats, Yale University, Conn College, Tufts University, Roger Williams, Brown University, University of Rhode Island and Mitchell were all represented. Racing began at 10 a.m. with the skippers' meeting held in the stunning and inspirational Bready Sailing Center, construction of which finished this fall.

Racing all day was tricky, with heavy current flowing with the wind, then switching to against midday. This led to many general recalls and, eventually as the wind died, postponement. The race committee managed a total of four races for the day, with Tufts taking first and Mitchell rounding out the fleet.
