SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM BECKER COLLEGE

NEW LONDON, CONN.-Mother nature has kept the Pequots of Mitchell College off the softball diamond for quite some time, with their last four scheduled games cancelled or postponed due to weather related issues.  The Pequots, eager to return to action, opened their weekend home stand with two wins over Becker College Friday afternoon on the Alumni Softball Field, 10-5 and 10-9.  The two victories put Mitchell at 4-9 for the season while Becker fell to 2-11.

Mitchell used a six-run first inning and a pair of RBI's from freshman left fielder Sara Krolikowski (Bristol Eastern HS/Bristol, CT) and senior third baseman Jenn Cassara (New Rochelle HS/New Rochelle, NY) to take down Becker in the first game of the doubleheader.

In game two, Mitchell fell behind 8-1 early on but scored six runs in the fourth and two in the ninth to escape with the one run victory.  Krolikowski drove in two again and sophomore shortstop Liz Roy (Griswold HS/Jewett City, CT) went 3-for-4 and knocked home a pair as well.
