KROWLIKOWSKI AND ROY NAMED TO AD3I ALL-INDEPENDENT TEAMS

NEW LONDON, CT. - The 2006 All-Independent Women's Softball teams were announced recently by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I).  Mitchell College had two members acknowledged for their outstanding efforts on the diamond. 

Bristol High School graduate and Mitchell College freshman Sara Krolikowski earned Second team All-Independent honors. In her first season with the Pequots, the outfielder hit led the team in home runs (3), total bases (40), hits (23), and slugging percentage (.851), while finishing second on the team in batting average (.489), and RBI (18). 

Mitchell sophomore Liz Roy (Griswold, CT) was selected a member of the Third-team All-Independents. Roy a former Rookie of the year was instrumental to the Pequots success, leading the team in runs (16), and RBI (23), while finishing second in home runs (2) and hits (22).

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 25 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2006-07.  The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.  The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports.  In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
