Softball's Suplicki Tabbed NECC Player of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Stacey Suplicki was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of softball, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Suplicki batted .438 (7-for-16) with a team-high 10 RBI and six runs scored last week as Mitchell went 3-1 in NECC play. She hit safely in all four games and finished with three home runs and a double. All three homers came in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Vermont College over the weekend. In the opening game, Suplicki crushed two long balls and drove in six runs as the Mariners won 16-1. She then added two hits—including a solo homer—and plated two runs as Mitchell won the second game 20-2.

Suplicki, a shortstop, has started and played in 18 games this season and is batting .315 with a team-high 15 RBI and 15 runs scored. She becomes the second Mitchell softball player to earn player of the week status, as classmate Nikki Hoxie earned the distinction on March 28. It marked the first time in Suplicki's career that she was tabbed player of the week.

Mitchell (8-12 overall, 5-1 NECC) will next host a doubleheader against Elms College on Saturday, April 16 at noon.
