MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Mitchell College softball team lost two games at the Snowbird Tournament on Tuesday, falling 7-2 to Swarthmore College and 12-0 to Gettysburg College.

The Mariners fell behind 3-0 but scored a pair of runs in the second inning to cut into the deficit. Junior Chelsea Arpin and freshman Emily Morenzoni each supplied RBI singles in the frame.

The score remained 3-2 until Swarthmore pushed across four runs in the fifth to break the game open. Starting pitcher Kaisea Caramante didn't make it out of the inning, and junior Tricia Tomaselli came in to close out the game.

Tomaselli threw 2.1 innings and allowed three hits and struck out two. Caramante lasted 4.2 innings and allowed seven runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out two.
