Softball's Riccardi Tabbed NECC Player of the Week


ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Dylan Riccardi was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of softball, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.

Riccardi batted .700 with four RBI and three runs scored last week while leading the Mariners to a 4-0 record in NECC play. She recorded hits in every game to extend her hitting streak to eight games, including a 5-for-5 effort with three RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Wheelock College. She also played flawless defense over the week and didn't commit an error in nine chances.

Riccardi earns player of the week honors for the first time in her career. She has started and played all 33 games at third base this season and is batting .292 with nine RBI and five runs scored.

Mitchell (16-17 overall, 12-6 NECC) has wrapped up regular season play and has qualified for the 2014 NECC Championship. The Mariners will host a first round game on Wednesday, April 30 against an opponent to be determined. The conference will release seeding and match-ups following today's completion of all regular season games.
