Softball's Vachon Tabbed NECC Player of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Suzanne Vachon was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of softball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Vachon batted a team-high .680 with two doubles, a triple, nine RBI and 10 runs scored last week to wrap up her collegiate career. She hit safely in all six league games and finished with multiple hits in all but one. She went 4-for-7 with a double, triple and two RBI in a sweep of Dean College to start the week. She then went 5-for-9 with four RBI in a split with Bay Path University before going 8-for-9 with a double and three RBI in the season finale at Newbury College. Vachon slugged .840 for the week and had an on-base percentage of .680.

Vachon, who earned the honor for the third time in her career, played in all 33 games in her final season with the Mariners. She batted .437 with career highs of 25 RBI and 32 runs, and she led the team in runs, total hits (48) and triples (2).

Mitchell finished the season with an overall record of 11-22 and went 4-12 in NECC play.
