Softball's Lipsky Named NECC Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. -- Mitchell College freshman Katelyn Lipsky was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of softball, as announced by the league on Monday.

Lipsky earned a win in the circle in her collegiate debut, tossing 8.0 innings in a 5-4 victory over Roger Williams University to open the 2021 season. She gave up one earned run on eight hits and struck out eight while issuing three walks. She also drew the bases-loaded walk in the eighth that gave the Mariners the walk-off win.

Mitchell (1-1 overall) will next play at Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday, March 17 at 4 p.m. No spectators will be permitted at the games.
