Lipsky Repeats as NECC Pitcher of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Katelyn Lipsky (Plantsville, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week in the sport of softball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

The junior posted a 3-0 record with a 1.17 ERA in wins over Crown College, SUNY Cobleskill, and Nazareth College. Across three starts, Lipsky allowed only 12 hits and three earned runs, while racking up 25 strikeouts to just four walks.

She began the week by tossing a complete game against Crown College, surrendering four hits and two earned runs, striking out 12. Lipsky was back in action the next day, dealing four innings of two hit ball as the Mariners routed SUNY Cobleskill 9-2. The junior righty then closed out the week on Thursday, throwing another complete game, this time allowing just three runs and striking out eight against Nazareth College.

Having made five starts this season, Lipsky sports a 4-1 record with a 2.00 ERA and 35 strikeouts. The wins, strikeouts, and ERA are all best in the NECC, and she has given up just 25 hits and eight walks in 28 innings pitched.

The Mariners (7-3 overall) will return to action on Saturday, March 25, when they host conference foe New England College for a doubleheader in their home opener.
