Worsdale Earns NECC Rookie of the Week Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Lola Worsdale (Stonington, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of softball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Worsdale earned the honor for the first time this season and is the first Mitchell softball player to be named NECC Rookie of the Week this spring.

The freshman outfielder slashed .333/.474/.400 for the Mariners, who posted a 4-2 record on the week, with all four wins coming against conference rival New England College. She drove in two runs, scored three times, collected one double, and picked up at least one hit in four of the six games. During a weekend in which Mitchell won four games against the Pilgrims, Worsdale went a combined 4-9 at the plate with two RBI, three runs scored, three walks, and one stolen base.

On the season the freshman has appeared in 24 games and is batting .333 with 13 runs, nine walks, five RBI, and five steals

Mitchell (16-12 overall, 7-1 NECC) will next play on Tuesday, April 18, when they host Roger Williams University for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 2:30 pm.
