The Mariners (13-9) took control of the game scoring seven straight, the final three on three free throws by freshman Bianca Young, turning a 40-38 lead into a 47-38 advantage with 10:14 left in the game.

Mitchell opened up a ten point lead, 36-26 in the first two minutes of the second half, before the Bears answered with nine straight making it 36-35 with 15:58 left.

Martinelli single-handedly kept the Bears in the game in the first half as she accounted for 19 of the team's 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Martinelli was nine for 14 from the floor in the first 20 minutes while the rest of the team was one for 15 with the one basket coming from freshman Maddie Buchert (New Orleans, La.).

Mitchell relied on its 3-point shooting in the first half as the Mariners knocked down eight of 22 from behind the arc with Iglesias hitting four trifectas, including three for the Mariners final nine points of the half, as she finished with 14 first half points and Mitchell led 26-21 at halftime. The Mariners had eight trifectas, but were just one for nine from two-point range and the bigger Bears had 24 rebounds to Mitchell's 12 in the first half.

The Mariners led by as many as eight in the first half as sophomore Allison Peck hit back-to-back 3-pointers as part of a 9-0 run which turned a 9-8 deficit into a 17-9 lead with 7:39 left in the half.

Mitchell was 22 for 58 from the field (43.1 percent) while Coast Guard shot 39.6 percent from the field (21-53) while making just two of 13 from behind the arc.
