WBB's Cerruto Named NECC Co-Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Mitchell College freshman Kaylee Cerruto was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Co-Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Cerruto guided the Mariners to a 2-1 week while averaging 9.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Mitchell defeated conference opponents Newbury College and Becker College to finish the regular season in third place in the NECC standings with a 12-4 mark. Cerruto shot 44 percent from the field for the week and went 3-for-9 from long range.

Cerruto, who shared the honor with Newbury's Catherine O'Connell, earns conference accolades for the third time this season. She was also named Rookie of the Week on January 11 and Player of the Week on December 14. Cerruto ranks third on the team in scoring at 7.5 points per game and led the NECC in three-point field goal percentage (.372) during the regular season.

Mitchell (12-11 overall) is the third seed in the 2010 NECC Championship and will host sixth-seeded Newbury in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 23. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Yarnall Athletic Center
