WBB Falters in Rematch with Anna Maria

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Saint Joseph College and Anna Maria College will meet in the finals of the SJC Tip-Off Tournament after earning victories in Friday's first round.

Freshman Devon Diliberto scored 22 points and senior Ilaria Schiano had 15 as Saint Joseph defeated Green Mountain 73-48. Saint Joseph will play Anna Maria in Saturday's 3 p.m. final. Anna Maria defeated Mitchell 48-34 in Friday's first game. Green Mountain will play Mitchell in Saturday's 1 p.m. consolation game.

Saint Joseph 73, Green Mountain 48

The Blue Jays used effective full-court pressure to help make 28 steals and cause 41 turnovers. Senior Nathalie Mastarreno and freshman Diamond Doe had seven steals apiece for the Blue Jays.

Sophomore Chelsea Paul had 20 points to lead Green Mountain and Chanleigh Casey added 10.

Saint Joseph improved to 2-1 while Green Mountain dropped to 0-2.

Anna Maria 48, Mitchell 34

Chelsea Blair scored 16 points and Samantha Ashton chipped in with 15 to help Anna Maria (2-0 overall) past Mitchell (0-2) in Friday's first semifinal.

The game was a stark contrast to Tuesday's game when the same two schools faced off and Anna Maria cruised to a 73-35 win.

Senior Allison Peck and sophomore Kaylee Cerruto had nine points apiece for Mitchell and senior Alix O'Neil pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
