WBB's Mulloy, Williams Receive NECC Honors


ATTLEBORO, Mass. – A pair of Mitchell College women's basketball players were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.

Senior forward Kate Mulloy and freshman forward Caycee Williams were both named NECC All-Conference Honorable Mention. The league honored a total of 16 players between first, second and honorable mention teams, and all awards were determined by a vote of the conference head coaches.

Mulloy started all 18 NECC contests and led the Mariners in scoring at 12.3 points per game. She pitched in with 7.9 rebounds per game and contributed 42 assists and 20 blocks, and four of her five double-doubles on the season also came in conference play.

Williams played in all 18 league games while making 14 starts and averaged a double-double with 10.9 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest. She ranked second in the NECC in blocks (32) and fourth in rebounding, and she recorded nine of her 11 double-doubles in conference play. Williams was also a three-time NECC Rookie of the Week selection during the regular season.

Mitchell (16-10 overall, 15-3 NECC) finished the regular season tied for second place in the league standings. The Mariners were the third seed in the 2014 NECC Championship and advanced to the semifinals before being eliminated by Elms College in a 63-60 final.
