Mulloy Selected for 2014 NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic

KEENE, N.H. – Mitchell College forward Kate Mulloy was one of 22 seniors selected by the New England Women's Basketball Association to participate in the 2014 NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic.

The game will take place on Saturday, March 29 in Ainsworth Gym at Smith College at 1 p.m. Players from around the region were nominated for the honor by their coaches, and a vote of all coaches determined the selections.

Mulloy will be the first player from Mitchell to participate in the event, and she is one of only two participants from the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). Also representing the conference will be Regis College senior Claire Ramonas.

"Kate is deserving of this honor," said Mitchell head coach MaryLynn Skarzenski. "She enjoyed a solid two-year career at Mitchell, highlighted by a great senior season. Being selected as one of the top seniors in New England is a good way to culminate her career."

An all-conference honorable mention selection in her final season, Mulloy averaged 10.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game over 25 appearances. She started all 18 NECC contests and led the Mariners in scoring at 12.3 points per game in league play. She guided Mitchell (16-10 overall, 15-3 NECC) to a tie for second place in the NECC and helped the team advance to the NECC Championship semifinals for the fourth time in six years.

Mulloy played in 50 games and made 49 starts in her two seasons with the Mariners. She scored 445 career points and finished with 350 rebounds, 89 assists and 58 blocks.
