Slow Start Costs WBB at Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team had its four-game winning streak snapped at Dean College on Tuesday night, falling 51-36 in New England Collegiate Conference action.

A rough first quarter left the Mariners in a tough spot, down 22-1 after shooting 0-for-11 from the field in the stanza. Mitchell outscored Dean 35-29 the rest of the way but was never able to cut the deficit to single digits.

Jordan Lohneiss came off the bench to lead the Mariners with 10 points and Marissa Sweeney finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Dean's Morgan Turner led all scorers with 18 points while Sophia Corbitt added a double-double of 15 points and 11 boards.

Mitchell (12-12 overall, 11-4 NECC) will close out the regular season with a home game against Becker College on Saturday, February 17 at 1 p.m.
