WBB Shot Down by Conn College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College shot 57 percent from beyond the arc to post a 76-48 victory over Mitchell College on Tuesday night in a non-conference women's basketball clash at the Yarnall Athletic Center.

The Camels (5-0 overall) drained a season-high 16 three-pointers and had eight players connect from deep. Sami Ashton netted all of her team-and season-high 19 points in the first half and went 3-for-3 from long range. Kylie Caouette shot 4-for-6 from three and finished with 15 points while Casey Walsh chipped in with 11.

Amina Wiley led all scorers with a career-high 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting to pace the Mariners (1-3 overall). She also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to notch her second double-double of the season.

Conn took control midway through the opening quarter, closing the period on a 14-2 run that featured contributions from five players. The Camels didn't allow a Mitchell field goal over the final five minutes of the stanza and led 26-10 heading into the second. Ashton fueled the offense with 14 points in the stanza.

The lead grew to as many as 26 in the second quarter as Conn continued to bomb away from three. The Camels went into intermission with a 44-26 advantage thanks to 10 first-half treys.

Caouette scored eight of her 15 points in the second half as the Camels emptied the bench early. Wiley, who netted 14 points in the first half, added 14 more over the final 20 minutes.

Mitchell will next play at Bay Path University on Saturday, December 1 at 7 p.m. Conn returns to action at Worcester State University on Thursday, November 29 at 7 p.m.
