Turner Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Le'Sandra Turner was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Turner averaged team-highs of 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game last week as the Mariners went 2-0 in league play. She netted a season-high 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a home win over Newbury College to start the week. She then finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, three steals and a season-high nine assists in a road victory at New England College.

Turner has started and played in all seven games this season and ranks second on the team in scoring at 8.9 points per contest. She also leads the Mariners in assists (20), steals (9) and minutes played (178).

Mitchell (4-3 overall, 4-0 NECC) will next play at the University of Saint Joseph on Monday, December 10 at 7 p.m.
