Wiley Nets Fifth Straight NECC Rookie of the Week Nod

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – For the fifth straight week, Mitchell College freshman Amina Wiley was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Wiley averaged team highs of 17.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game last week as the Mariners posted a 2-0 record in league play. She finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds at Newbury College to record her team-high 11th double-double of the season. She then shot 8-for-12 in a win over Bay Path University and netted 16 points to go with nine boards. Wiley shot 58 percent from the floor and averaged 3.0 steals per game for the week.

Wiley, who has played in 19 games and made 18 starts this season, is averaging team highs of 16.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. She currently ranks third in the NECC in rebounding and fifth in scoring.

Mitchell (12-8 overall, 11-2 NECC) will next play at Elms College on Tuesday, February 5 at 7 p.m.
