Wiley's Monster Game Leads WBB Past Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team picked up its third straight win with a 56-44 victory over Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon at the Fuller Center.

Amina Wiley turned in a performance for the ages, finishing with a game-high 20 points and a career-high 32 rebounds while playing the full 40 minutes. The 32 rebounds are a single game school record, as well as the most in any NCAA game this season (Division I, II or III).

Mitchell's Leilani McClellan also turned in a season-high 16 points while Le'Sandra Turner chipped in 10. Amber Wilson paced Anna Maria (3-6 overall) with 14 points.

The Mariners never trailed in the contest thanks to a strong first quarter in which they outscored the AMCATS 13-4. Anna Maria shot just 2-for-15 in the period and 26 percent for the game.

Mitchell led 28-18 at the break and kept the clamps on defensively in the second half. Wiley did her part to limit any second-chance opportunities, grabbing 20 boards in the second half alone. She finished with as many rebounds as the entire Anna Maria team.

Mitchell (4-3 overall) will next host Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday, December 10 at 5 p.m.
