WBB's McKenna Selected as NECC Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Sam McKenna was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

McKenna averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game last week as the Mariners played a pair of non-league contests. She scored in double digits in each game, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds against Coast Guard Academy and 10 points at Western Connecticut State University.

McKenna has started and played in seven games in her first season at Mitchell. She currently ranks second on the team in scoring (11.7 ppg) and third in rebounding (4.9 rpg). 

Mitchell (4-5 overall) will close out the semester with a road game at Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday, December 17 at 5 p.m.
