LEICESTER, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team picked up a 64-44 victory over Becker College on Tuesday night in a New England Collegiate Conference showdown at Leicester Gymnasium.

Amina Wiley provided a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Mariners earned their first conference win of the season. Sam McKenna added 13 points and three steals and shot 3-for-6 from long range. Becker's Cassidy Harrison led all scorers with 23 points, but Mitchell shut down her supporting cast and didn't allow another scorer in double digits.

McKenna drilled a three following the opening tip that got the Mariners off to the races. Mitchell scored the first seven points of the contest and never trailed, opening up a 17-3 lead by the end of the first quarter. Becker shot just 1-for-14 in the stanza and checked in at 26 percent for the entire game.

Wiley and McKenna combined for 13 points in the second quarter as the Mariners extended the lead to 36-16 by intermission. The two sides then played an even second half as Mitchell cruised to the victory.

Wiley shot an efficient 8-for-9 from the floor and also finished with a pair of steals and a block. Kelsey Hernandez chipped in eight points, six rebounds and four assists while Leilani McClellan added seven points and three boards.

Mitchell (5-7 overall, 1-1 NECC) will next host Elms College on Saturday, January 11 at noon.
