MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team picked up its first New England Collegiate Conference victory of the season on Monday, defeating Lesley University by a 104-54 final at Medford High School.

Six Mariners scored in double digits on the night. Amina Wiley needed only 16 minutes to rack up a game-high 20 points on 9-for-16 shooting, and Dede Stevenson and Le'Sandra Turner chipped in 16 points apiece. Yasmine Santos supplied 12 points while Alexia Watson and Tianna Sweeney came off the bench to add 12 and 10, respectively.

Mitchell shot 50 percent for the game and made 10 three-pointers, led by four from Watson and three by Stevenson. Lesley, which was paced by Sydnie Dreznek's 14 points, checked in at 36 percent.

The Mariners literally led for all 40 minutes as a pre-game technical foul yielded a free throw for Stevenson, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage before the jump ball. Mitchell followed with a bucket on its opening possession, the first of 15 field goals in the quarter. Wiley and Turner combined for 18 points in the period as the Mariners rolled out to a 35-17 lead after 10 minutes.

Wiley had 18 points by intermission as Mitchell led 57-32 at the break. The margin continued to grow in the second half as the starters turned things over to the reserves for the fourth quarter. Watson netted all 12 of her points in the final period as the Mariners led by as many as 52.

Mitchell (9-12 overall, 1-3 NECC) will next host Eastern Nazarene College on Wednesday, February 16 at 6 p.m.
