WBB Runs Away From Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team won their second straight game on Wednesday night, cruising past Dean College 65-19 in a non-conference showdown Pieri Gymnasium.

The Mariners dominated from wire to wire, scoring the first nine points of the game and establishing a 26-2 lead after the first quarter. The Bulldogs responded by winning the second quarter, 9-8, but Mitchell outscored Dean 31-8 in the third and fourth quarter combined.

Senior Dede Stevenson (Hartford, Conn.) had her best scoring game of the season, pacing Mitchell with 18 points. Stevenson added six steals and four rebounds, while Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) posted a 16 point, 10 rebound double-double, and freshman Kyrsten Lucas (Manchester, MD) scored 14 points, the most of her collegiate career. 

The Bulldogs were led offensively by Tori Andrewski, who scored a team-best six points and also grabbed 12 rebounds. 

The Mariners (2-1 overall) will be off until Tuesday, November 22, when they travel to Danbury to face Western Connecticut State University. Dean (0-2 overall) meanwhile, host Mount Holyoke College on Saturday, November 19, at 3:00 pm.
