WBB Closes Semester with Road Loss to Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team closed out the semester with a non-conference road loss on Sunday to Bryant University at the Chace Athletic Center. 

The Division I Bulldogs led wire to wire, with their lead growing to as many as 68 points down the stretch. 11 players scored for the home team, as Mariona Planes Fortuny led the way with 21 points. Blanca Chasco (15 points), Lucie Castagne (14 points), Kemari Reynolds (13 points), and Megan Bodziony (11 points) all also reached double-figures for Bryant, who improved to 5-7 overall on the season. 

Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) paced the Mariners with eight points, while seniors Dede Stevenson (Hartford, Conn.) and Sam McKenna (Millbrook, N.Y.) each scored seven points. Additionally, Yasmine Santos (Pawtucket, R.I.) grabbed a team-best four rebounds and scored four points. 

The Mariners (3-7) will break for the holiday and return to action on Friday, December 30th, when they face Fitchburg State in Danbury at the Western Connecticut St. Tip-Off. Bryant (5-7) will host Maine on Thursday, December 29th, at 1:00 pm.
