Beddoe Named NECC Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Jamya Beddoe (New London, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning. It marks the third time this season that Beddoe has been recognized as the Rookie of the Week within the conference (Dec. 19, Jan. 3).

Beddoe poured in 12 points to help guide Mitchell to their third consecutive victory, 71-50 over conference rival New England College. The freshman made three shots from beyond the arc as the Mariners climbed about .500 for the first time since late November. Mitchell now sits at 9-8 overall, 2-0 in NECC play. The first year guard has now reached double-figures scoring in six of Mitchell's last seven games, averaging 11.7 points per game over that stretch.

The Mariners (9-8 overall, 2-0 NECC) return to action on Tuesday, January 23rd, when they make the short trip to face crosstown rival Connecticut College.
