WBB Takes Care of ENC in OT

QUINCY, MASS The Mitchell College Women's basketball team held off Eastern Nazarene College 85-79 in a New England Collegiate Conference match up on Saturday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center. 

Mitchell's Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) led the offensive attack with 28 points on 14-19 shooting and 16 rebounds. She was one of five Mariners who finished in double figures. Na'Jae White (Hartford, Conn.) registered her first double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Yasmine Santos (Pawtucket, RI) posted 13 points and 11 rebounds. Dede Stevenson (Hartford, Conn.) also tallied a double double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Mariners shot 41.5% from the field, 70.6% from the free throw line, and out rebounded the Lions 59-46. 

After Ashley Quigley made a basket to send the game to overtime, the Mariners began the extra frame on a 10-3 run and didn't look back, holding off ENC for their fourth victory in the last five games. 

Alondra Jimenez paced the Lions with a team best 24 points and 12 rebounds. Ashley Quigley finished with 19 points while Delaney Walker added 11, and Anaira Alaya chipped in 10. 

Mitchell (10-9 overall, 3-0 NECC) will return to action on Monday, January 30, when they host Anna Maria College at the Yarnall Athletic Center at 6:00 pm. Eastern Nazarene will play host to Fisher on Wednesday, February 1.
