Wiley Named NECC Player of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning. It marks the second time this season that Stokes has earned Player of the Week honors. It marks the third time this season Wiley has earned Player of the Week honors.

Wiley continued her strong play, averaging a team-best 19 points and 11.5 rebounds, guiding the Mitchell College women's basketball team to a 1-1 record on the week. Wiley shot 59.4% from the floor, while also averaging four assists per game, as the Mariners remained undefeated in conference play. She began her week by posting 10 points, seven rebounds, and five steals in a loss to crosstown rival Connecticut College of the NESCAC. When the Mariners returned to NECC play on Saturday night she proved unstoppable, scoring 28 points on 14-19 shooting and grabbing 16 rebounds powering Mitchell past Eastern Nazarene College 85-79 in overtime.

Mitchell (10-9 overall, 3-0 NECC) will return to action on Monday, January 30, when they host Anna Maria College at the Yarnall Athletic Center at 6:00 pm.
