WBB Defeats Lesley, Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's basketball team picked up their fifth consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Lesley University by a 103-60 final at Medford High School in New England Collegiate Conference action.

Six Mariners scored in double digits on the day, as Yasmine Santos (Pawtucket, R.I.) and Jermia Dumas (Stratford, Conn.) each finished with 17 points, a team-high figure. Santos shot 7-11 from the floor and added seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Dumas was an efficient 9-12 shooting. Freshman Kyrsten Lucas (Manchester, Md.) netted a career high 16 points in just 19 minutes, sinking four shots from long range. Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Dede Stevenson (Hartford, Conn.) both poured in 15 points for the Mariners. Wiley also added nine rebounds and four assists, and Stevenson had five rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Na'Jae White (Hartford, Conn.) needed only 16 minutes to score 14 points, the most of the season for the junior.

Mitchell shot 52.1% for the game and made six three-pointers. Lesley, which was paced by Sophia Torres's 14 points, checked in at 39.7%.

The Mariners literally led for all 40 minutes, forced 29 turnovers, and received 40 points from their bench. The win keeps Mitchell undefeated in conference play and improves their record to 11-2 in 13 games since falling to Division I Bryant University on December 18th.

Mitchell (14-9 overall, 5-0 NECC) will next host Fisher College on Tuesday, February 14th, at 6:00 pm. The Lynx (4-18 overall, 0-4 NECC) will host Eastern Nazarene College on Wednesday, February 15th, at 7:00 pm.
