Wilson Attends WBCA Convention

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Mitchell College head women's basketball coach Ashley Wilson recently traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to participate in the annual Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Taking place at the same location as the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Final Four, Wilson represented Mitchell College and was selected to serve as a mentor and help facilitate group discussions on different topics during the Mentoring Madness Event.

"Mentoring Madness is a fun, fast-paced discussion event," shared Wilson. "Each group will contain three to five mentees, and each of the three 20-minute discussion periods will have a list of suggested questions from which you may select. We ask that you facilitate discussion within the group, be willing to share your experience and expertise, and provide your contact information to mentees who might want to follow up with additional concerns or questions after the event."

Wilson was given the opportunity to lead hot topic conversations, sparking conversations convos and navigating through talks with coaches from different levels and areas. Later in the day, she was also able to attend different session and learn more about social media, branding, and recruiting.

Additionally, Wilson was able to attend on court demonstrations that gave her exposure to new practice drills and ways to challenge my players while also building confidence.

"The convention taught me ways to grow as a coach and I will continue to work on implementing them throughout my time here," continued Wilson. "I have been attending a few years now, but this was the first time I've been selected to lead during a session. I was able to share many experiences of my coaching journey in hopes of helping another coach. I'm also proud to have represented Mitchell College at the event!"
