Murtha Named NECC Rookie of the Week

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College freshman Ashley Murtha was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's lacrosse, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Murtha recorded 11 goals and two assists in her collegiate debut in a 17-13 win over Bay Path College last week. She netted six of her team's seven goals in the first half and added five more over the final 30 minutes of the game. The rookie also finished with 13 draw controls in the contest, which was the first-ever varsity game (and win) for the Mariners.

Mitchell (1-1 overall) will next host Regis College on Tuesday, March 25 at 4 p.m.
