Murtha's Nine Goals Not Enough at Sage


ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Sage Colleges women's lacrosse team came away with a 21-9 victory over Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon.

The Sage seniors were rewarded with a record-setting performance as the Gators broke the single-game scoring mark with 21 goals. The 21 goals bettered the previous record of 19 (which happened twice) and helped Sage finish the year with a record of 4-8. The four wins also tied a program mark for most wins a season set by last year's Gators. Mitchell dropped to 1-7 on the season.

Sage's Kimberlee Carr added a team-best five goals with an assist for six points and wrapped her first season as a Gator with 49 points. The Gators had six different players tally a pair of goals in the action as Emily Stevenson racked up two goals with two assists for four points.

Mallory Hansen recorded two assists on the day and also added three draw controls to become the program's all-time leader with 62 career draws. Monica Koralus added two goals and assist on Saturday to finish her season with 15 goals and five assists. Lindsay Millett added two goals an assist.

For the Mariners, freshman Ashley Murtha scored all nine goals and now leads her team with 37 goals and 39 points.

Goalie Brittany Brown made her first career start and finished with two saves and six goals allowed. She shared in the win with Jackie St. Pierre, who made four saves.

Mitchell junior Anysia Lombardo made 10 saves in goal in the loss.

Mitchell will next play at Albertus Magnus College on Monday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m.
