Women's LAX Falls at Becker in Regular Season Finale


LEICESTER – Becker College defeated Mitchell College, 20-10, in New England Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The win brings the Hawks record to 8-9 (5-2 NECC), while the Mariners drop to 5-6 (3-4 NECC).

Erika Galdamez led the Hawks with four goals on the day. Rachel Welling capped off her final regular season home game with three goals, including what proved to be the game winner with 4:19 remaining in the first half. Taryn Flebbe also finished with a hat-trick while Kailee Ruyack, Victoria Belcher, Marissa Turner and Lindsey Keith tickled the twine twice for the Hawks.

Mitchell's Kate McCormack led all scorers with five goals. Ashley Murtha chipped in with three goals while Francesca Pinard finished with two makers for the Mariners.

Both teams will await the official seedings by the league office for the upcoming NECC Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Mariners will be making their first appearance in the tournament. First round games are slated for Tuesday, April 26 and will be played at the site of the higher seeds.
