WLAX Drops NECC Opener at Regis


WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's lacrosse team opened up league play with a bang, besting Mitchell College by a score of 20-5 in New England Collegiate Conference action Saturday at Regis Stadium.

The Pride improved to 6-0 while Mitchell dropped to 0-2 overall. 

Erin Loehner and Kerri Anselmo both scored three goals and tallied two assists in the win. Brooke Ross contributed two goals and three assists while Danielle Aguinaldo added two goals and two assists. 

Kate McCormack had three goals to lead Mitchell and Ashley Murtha added two more.  

Regis jumped on Mitchell early, opening up a 10-1 lead not even halfway through the first half. Aguinaldo and Loehner both scored back-to-back goals, and Loehner added a third to help the Pride to a 15-2 halftime lead. 

Maresa Malcolm earned the win in net for the Pride, playing the first half and making four saves. Olivia Maggio played the final 30 minutes and tallied five saves.  

Gillian MacLellan played the entire 60 minutes in net for Mitchell, recording 11 saves against 31 shots. 

Mitchell will next host Dean College on Wednesday, March 29 at 4 p.m.
