NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College dropped a 20-10 decision to the College of Mount Saint Vincent in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Emma Dell'Aquila led the Dolphins with six goals and three assists on the day. Morgan Pavlik added four goals and a game-high 10 draw controls while Veronica Sevivas chipped in with a hat trick. Kate McCormack paced the Mariners with a game-high seven goals and also tacked on an assist.

McCormack got the Mariners off to a good start by netting the game's first goal just three minutes in. Mount Saint Vincent responded with four straight goals to seize the momentum. Dell'Aquila scored the first goal of the spurt and also assisted on two others as the Dolphins grabbed a 4-1 lead with 18:14 remaining in the half.

McCormack kept the Mariners close with a pair of scores over the next three minutes, but the Dolphins had an answer each time. After Lindsey Fairbank found the back of the net to pull Mitchell within three at 7-4, the visitors ripped off five straight goals over a six-minute stretch. Both Dell'Aquila and Sevivas contributed back-to-back tallies as the Dolphins built a 12-5 advantage by halftime.

Francesca Pinard and McCormack each scored goals in the opening minutes of the second half to give the Mariners a spark. However, Mount Saint Vincent's dominance on restarts eventually began to take a toll, and the Dolphins found themselves eating up huge chunks of time while potting six unanswered goals.

Mount Saint Vincent finished the game with a 24-7 edge in draw controls and a 41-20 advantage in shots. The Dolphins also went 5-for-10 in free position shots.

Goalie Allyson Weakliem finished with nine saves in the win for the visitors. Gillian MacLellan stopped 13 shots in goal for the Mariners.

Mitchell (1-3 overall) will next host Becker College on Wednesday, April 3 at 4 p.m. Mount Saint Vincent (3-2 overall) will return to action at home against Purchase College on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
