Slow Start Costs Women's LAX at Becker

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team couldn't recover from a slow start, falling 18-7 to Becker College on a rainy Thursday evening in New England Collegiate Conference action at Alumni Field. 

The Hawks scored three of the game's first four goals and never looked back. Clare Conway, Julia Ravenelle and Mikayla Leibowitz all scored scored for the hosts while Hannah Corrigan put Mitchell on the scoreboard.

Becker took command from that point, scoring the next nine goals to dash out to a 12-1 advantage. Arianna Calouro netted three consecutive goals in the 9-0 spurt while Conway and Ravenelle netted two apiece.

The Hawks and Mariners traded late goals in the half, including the first of the season for Amber Lee, as Becker led 13-2 at the the break.

Each side tallied five goals in the second half, including three more for Corrigan. Daniella Holland also added two goals and an assist for the Mariners, who dropped to 0-7 (0-2 NECC) on the season. Ashley Holdridge made 11 saves in goal.

Conway finished with five goals and four assists to pace the Hawks (4-4 overall, 3-1 NECC). 

Mitchell will next host Elms College on Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m.
