WLAX Eliminated by Top-Seeded Becker

LEICESTER, Mass. – Top-seeded Becker College posted a 20-4 victory over fourth-seeded Mitchell College on Thursday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2021 New England Collegiate Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.

Seniors Lindsey Fairbank and Hannah Corrigan each scored a pair of goals in the final game of their careers. The two finished tied for the team lead in scoring this season with 29 points apiece.

The Hawks were off and running in the opening 1:56, scoring twice as Clare Conway and Julia Ravenelle each found the back of the net. Becker added a third goal before Mitchell got on the scoreboard on a tally by Fairbank to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Hawks scored four goals in a row over a 6:04 span to take control. Conway scored three goals in the run with Ravenelle accounted for the other. Corrigan then notched her first of the game to whittle the deficit to 7-2, but Becker finished the half with eight straight goals to lead 15-2 at halftime.

Fairbank and Corrigan each added a goal in the second half, but Arianna Calouro paced the Hawks with three of her own. Becker cruised to the finish and punched its ticket to the title game, which it will host on Sunday.

Conway finished with eight goals and two assists and added four ground balls on the afternoon. Ravenelle chipped in six goals and three assists in the win.

Fairbank added a game-high seven ground balls for the Mariners while Mariah Travisano went for three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Goalie Ashley Holdridge finished with five saves in her final game.
