Women's LAX Drops Season Finale at Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2022 season with a 17-7 loss to Dean College on Friday afternoon at Grant Field.

Jessica Krupnikoff scored a pair of goals, one of six Mariners to post a goal in the contest. Mitchell finishes the season with an overall record of 1-13.

The Bulldogs had 10 players in the scoring column with Nina Medeiros and Haley Gaunt leading the way with three goals apiece. Medeiros added 10 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Maire Brown tallied two goals, two assists and 13 draw controls, and Haley Custodio, Rachel Conrad and Sierra Cardenas each notched their first collegiate goal. 

In addition to her two goals, Krupnikoff added an assist, nine ground balls and six caused turnovers. Aizhane Glenn also caused six turnovers to go with her first goal of the season. Stephanie Costabile and Bree Rudolph also found the back of the cage for the first time this season.

Dean goalie Jada Fields made 10 saves to earn the win and finished the season with a 6-8 record. Mitchell netminder Hannah Gomes had eight saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs took command from the opening draw and raced out to a 6-0 lead just 4:08 into the contest. The first quarter ended with Dean on top 10-3.

In the second, Medeiros scored twice, while Gaunt and Jordyn McKenney added single goals to push the Dean advantage to 14-3 after 30 minutes.

Each team scored twice in the third to make the score 16-5. Conrad opened the scoring for Dean in the final quarter before Mitchell received goals from Glenn and Costabile to end the scoring at 17-7.
