WLAX Has Streak Snapped at Curry

MILTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team saw their two game winning streak come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling to Curry College 21-4 in a non-conference road match at at Walter M. Katz Field.

Chloe Chevrier paced Curry with six goals, two assists, four ground balls, and nine draw controls. Natalie Keenan added four goals for the home squad, while Grayson Goolgasian and Ellie Hardman both finished with three goals apiece. 

The Colonels jumped out to an early lead, scoring four goals in the first five minutes of play. Daniella Holland (Nanuet, N.Y.) answered with her 25th goal of the season at the 7:25 mark, but Curry proceeded to rip off three shots to end the quarter with a 7-1 lead.

Curry controlled the second frame as well, scoring seven straight goals before Holland potted her second of the afternoon with 3:26 remaining. Abby Rasmussen (Montville, Conn.) notched a goal in the third quarter for Mitchell, and Holland completed the hat trick midway through the final frame, scoring unassisted with 6:14 left on the clock.

Curry outshot the Mariners 38-10, won the ground ball battle 25-11, and forced 27 turnovers.

Hannah Gomes (Groton, Conn.) played all 60 minutes in the cage and made eight saves.

The Mariners (3-5) return to action on Saturday, April 15, when they host conference rival New England College.
