Women’s Lacrosse Releases 2024 Schedule

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team recently released their schedule for the upcoming spring season.

Playing their first year in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), the Mariners will open up their season at home on Saturday, February 24th, with a non-conference game against Wells College. Mitchell will then jump into conference play on the road at Elms College on Saturday, March 9th and at Regis College on Wednesday, Marc 20th, before returning to New London for a four-game GNAC home stand beginning on Saturday, March 23rd.

Following their four-game home stand, the Mariners will travel for conference tilts against Anna Maria College and Dean College. They will then return home for games against Emmanuel College and Rivier University, before concluding their season on the road at Lasell University.

The 2024 campaign will serve as the first for head coach Kristin Ventresca, who was hired to the position in September. Prior to her arrival in New London, Ventresca spent the previous three season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Connecticut.

Coming off a season where the team posted a 3-9 record, the Mariners will look towards the veteran leadership of senior goalkeeper Hannah Gomes (North Stonignton, Conn.) and midfielder Jessica Krupnikoff (Farmington, Conn.). Gomes, who has the second most saves in program history, is coming off a season in which she turned away 130 shots, while Krupnikoff tallied 66 ground balls in 2023, finishing in the top-10 in the nation at the Division III level in ground balls per game.
