Women’s Lacrosse Downed at Regis

WESTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team returned to action on Wednesday afternoon, dropping their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game of the season, 20-3 to Regis College.

The Pride attacked early and jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the opening quarter. Mitchell held Regis scoreless in the second frame, as sophomore Lauren Cordero (Seldon, N.Y.) notched two goals for the Mariners. Leading by nine at halftime, Regis went on to control the third, scoring three unanswered goals before Cordero tallied her first hat trick of the season.

Regis added six more goals in the fourth quarter to secure the win, their fourth in a row.

Madeline Conover and Kylee Marley led the Pride with five goals and one assist each, while Serenity Alto and Audrey Mason finished with three goals and eight draw controls apiece

Daniela Mazo and Allayna Martone each played one half and combined for three saves, while Mitchell goalie Hannah Gomes (North Stonington, Conn.) collected five saves for the Mariners. Cordero scored all three Mitchell goals plus earned four groundballs, and Jessica Krupnikoff (Farmington, Conn.) led the Mariners with four draw controls.

The Mariners (0-2, 0-1 GNAC) return home for a GNAC showdown against the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday, March, 23rd, at 11:00 am. The Pride (5-1, 1-0 GNAC) travel for a conference matchup at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday,
